Knight of Swords

Introduction to The Knights in the Minor Arcana.

The Knights usually depict men on horseback. In a spread they represent young men and sometimes situations in which movement, progress and activity are featured, just as the horse represents a means of movement and transport. As people, Knights are highly action-oriented – more so than the Pages.

Personality As a person the young man represented by this card is intelligent and courageous in dealing with obstacles and problems, logical and emotionally strong. He is a good friend to have in a time of crisis but can be somewhat ruthless and uncompromising. His colouring can be dark hair but with striking eyes, often blue, green or hazel.

Situation This card often appears when problems are on the horizon and there is going to be conflict with other people. When upright it means that whatever difficulty you will face you can overcome and achieve what you are seeking despite initial problems. Keeping practical and rational will help achieve goals and resolve conflicts in a way that is beneficial to all. Determination and assertiveness is required.
